VAF member Robert Mellin, Associate Professor at the McGill School of Architecture, was made a member of the Order of Canada in December, 2014 in recognition of his heritage conservation work in Newfoundland and also for his publications. He will also receive an honorary doctorate (D.Litt) from Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador in May of 2015 in recognition of his work in preservation and architectural practice. Pedlar Press in St. John’s, Newfoundland published his book Winter in Tilting: Slide Hauling in a Newfoundland Outport, in 2015.
